Sanctum
Well, color me surprised!

Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time
What do you do as an indie development studio when you have successfully released several little gems into the world that have almost achieved cult status and have a loyal fanbase around them? That's right, you get acquired by big publishers and produce sequels non-stop so that the money printing machine never rests. That the games and their mechanics cannot be spun on forever without becoming redundant is irrelevant.

Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim
Keine Ahnung! Ist viel zu lange her.

Balatro
When a game wins three awards at the Game Awards - Best Indie Game, Best Debut Indie Game and Best Mobile Game - it's rarely for no reason. Given that I didn't have a game for my smartphone at the time and the 2024 Steam hit was also released for android last September, I wanted to see if there was anything to the praise. What can I say? There is.

Top 100 Video game tracks 3
A year has passed and we have successfully reached the 250 review mark on this site. To celebrate this in style, I'm sending the Top 100 video game tracks into its third round. In terms of rules, everything remains the same. Meaning:

Pillars of Eternity
Pillars of Eternity is one of those games, that propably not many people know about, despite it being a work of passion by Obsidian Entertainment, who brought us games such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Neverwinter Nights 2 and The Outer Worlds. Of course, if it deserves metacritic score of 89 / 8.4, I cannot say, for I haven't played it either.

Dr. Drago's Madcap Chase
Video games from Germany are rare in themselves. Good games from Germany, on the other hand, are even harder to find. Dr. Drago's Madcap Chase, or Die total verrückte Rallye ("The totally crazy rally"), as it is called in German, is at least one of them - namely German. Produced by Blue Byte in 1995, this gem provided my brother and me with many hours of fun and gave us quotes that we still use today ("So, dann woll’n wa ma schauen…!" ("So, let's have a look...!")). The digital pastime could even have proven educational for me if I hadn't been too young.

Evil Genius

Day of Defeat: Source
I have already mentioned in my review of Team Fortress: Classic: Classic how Valve has repeatedly shown in the past that they have a knack for commercializing modifications of their games and turning them into entire franchises. Another example of this lucrative strategy was the Day of Defeat games, even if they never achieved the longevity of Team Fortress or even Counter-Strike.
