Battlefield 1: They Shall Not Pass
Dead end
The first of a total of four DLCs for Battlefield 1 is called They Shall Not Pass, but its content has nothing to do with the battle between Istari and Balrog. Instead, the 2017 expansion added the playable French faction to multiplayer, along with six matching maps such as “Verdun” and “Aisne-Marne Offensive.”
The score
Johan Söderqvist and Patrik Andrén were once again responsible for the music, but due to the lack of a campaign, they were relegated to loading screen hype. The seven tracks on the original soundtrack are still worth listening to, especially the drum-centric Facing NorthJohan Söderqvist, Patrik Andrén, which really gets your pulse racing. Meanwhile things take a dark and almost horror-like turn in The UnderworldJohan Söderqvist, Patrik Andrén, whereas Horror & DarknessJohan Söderqvist, Patrik Andrén ironically sounds more like a lament due to the vocals.
The FieldsJohan Söderqvist, Patrik Andrén revisits the Battlefield 1-theme in the form of a piano interlude, while Get Us Out of Here Johan Söderqvist, Patrik Andrénbecomes truly dramatic. Its combination of fast strings and thunderous drums allows us to virtually feel the approaching explosions. All in all, They Shall Not Pass doesn't offer the strongest pieces in the series, but for a DLC, what it has to offer is absolutely sufficient.
