Arabian Mights

Now that I have Disney+ (weird flex), I not only look back on a seemingly endless library of movies and series that I will never watch, but also on my childhood with entries like DuckTales or Darkwing Duck . In fact, out of curiousity, I recently watched the DuckTales-movie (DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp) for the first time in a long time, and in English. It turns out that a few of the jokes work much better in the original language, but who's surprised?

Inspired by this little burst of nostalgia, I listened to the soundtrack to the game adaptation of Disney’s Aladdin , which was released for the Megadrive in 1993 and whose gaming experience was denied to me at the time due to a lack of console, let alone the ability to run. The score is quite manageable with twelve tracks and is easy to listen to. This is partly due to the composers Tommy Tallarico and Donald Griffin, who steer the synthy droning in an oriental and appealing direction.

On the other hand, it is also due to the fact that five original tracks from the movie have found their way onto the memory card with songs such as Arabian Nights, which greets us directly on the title screen. Despite technical limitations, they sound very similar to their cinematic counterparts and are also fun in the synth version. So if you fancy hearing Prince Ali, One Jump Ahead, Friend Like Me or A Whole New World in the soundscape of a Transport Tycoon you should take a look.
