Composers

The unsung heroes

Like pretty much every artistic profession, that of the Composers is a very delicate and sometimes thankless one. For many people (myself included), the atmosphere of a game, a movie or even a series often stands or falls with the music. The composer must not be too experimental so that his creation does not distract from the actual entertainment product. But it must also not be too formulaic, otherwise it could be accused of being one-dimensional; in short, every track has to fit in perfectly with what is being shown in order to be memorable. And if it can also inspire without the visuals, then, indeed, we can speak of an excellent score.

It should be clear that this doesn't always work out. And it's no secret that not every amateur filmmaker becomes a Steven Spielberg. But the soundtrack in particular, with its sequencing and small parts, offers the chance for a jewel amidst the mud - or at least to a somewhat precious nugget. That's why you can find an overview of all the composers and their works that I have reviewed on this page here.
