I actually wanted to make my next top something list when I reached my 200th music review. Then I foolishly changed the counting method and instead of 199 reviews I was suddenly back at 170 ... great. Since I don't want to wait that long (and I know my own modus operandi), I'll take the 175th as an excuse. Topic: The 50 best fighting tracks.

Top 10 Star Wars soundtracks
If you say Star Wars, you have to say John Williams as well as lightsaber, Darth Vader and Utinni(!). In hardly any other franchise spanning decades is the music such an integral part of the brand's identity. Even today, I get goosebumps when the title crawl starts and the fanfares ring out, heralding adventures in a galaxy far, far away. The typical Star Wars soundtrack is not only to be found in the movies or when streaming at home, but also in the video games.

Top 10 Medieval soundtracks
My 100th review on this website is coming up, so I thought it was time for another top 10 list. This time it's about the best medieval scores, i.e. the soundtracks of video games set in the time of witch-burning, knights and damsels in distress. This thematic focus goes hand in hand with two important limitations, as this list would otherwise be significantly longer and less coherent.

Top 10 Battlefield soundtracks
Hach ja, Battlefield. Du einstige Perle der Taktikshooter. Du Spielspaßgarant langer Zockerabende. Du Meilenstein immersiven Gameplays. Was hatte ich viel Spaß mit dir… ich werde schon wieder wehmütig. Ist dein Werdegang sinnbildhaft für alle großen Marken meiner Jugend? Oder gar für Videospiele im Allgemeinen? Ist Triple-A mittlerweile synonym für massenkompatible Eindampfung? Oder bin ich einfach anderes als die heutigen Zocker gewohnt, die mit Fortnite, Call of Duty und Apex Legends eine andere Art von Spielprinzipien bevorzugen? Bin ich der alte Mann geworden, der traurig in seiner heruntergekommenen Arkade steht und dieses Internet verflucht? Vermutlich eine Mischung von alledem, gepaart mit einer gehörigen Portion Wut auf den neusten Ableger Battlefield 2042.

Top 15 Saddest tracks
Manchmal hat man Phasen oder Tage, an denen man einfach nicht in der Lage ist, Freude zu empfinden. Das Schlauste wäre natürlich, etwas dagegen zu unternehmen, sich abzulenken und positive Gedanken zu suchen … oder man ergötzt sich an seinem eigenen Elend und suhlt sich mit passsenden Musik in Traurigkeit. Weil ich am vergangenen Wochenende so einen Tag hatte, habe ich meine Sammlung nach Tracks durchforstet, die so richtig schöne Tränenstarter sind. Vielleicht wirkt das aber auch nur bei mir so, weil mir die dazugehörigen Spiele viel bedeuten. Top 10 Indie soundtracks
In music, indie is often used as a subgenre: Indie rock, indie hip-hop, indi-ans ... predictable gag. Indie stands for 'independent', usually in relation to larger labels. Artists who don't swim in the mainstream, but in the curious tributaries that are sometimes more and sometimes less rousing. In my experience, there are three things that distinguish this category from the main genres: more creativity, more risk and mixed quality. Because not everything 'edgy' is necessarily good. But this list is not about bad. No, it's to praise the top 10 best indie game soundtracks!

Top 10 Sci-Fi soundtracks
Space. The final frontier. Or the earth in the not-so-distant future. Or even a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Science fiction is big and beautiful. It explores places we will never reach, times full of unimaginable wonders and dangers; and is therefore a perfect breeding ground for unique games, franchises and their soundtracks. I would like to pay tribute to these today in my Top 10 Sci-Fi Scores. To do this, I have looked at videogames and franchises which are set somewhere in the possible future or take place in alternative universes.
