Final goodbye
“It's going to look pretty good, then, isn't it," said War testily, "the One Horseman and Three Pedestrians of the Apocalypse.”
Terry Pratchett, Courcery
The end of the world, the turning point in history, or even the end of history – the apocalypse has many names and even more interpretations. But anyone who saw death every day in the trenches of World War I must have had no doubt that they were closer to this reality than almost anyone else. So it's fitting that the final chapter of Battlefield 1 is called Apocalypse and incorporates the famous battles of Caporetto, the Somme, and Passchendaele into the game.
At the risk of repeating myself, I can't really go into depth about the soundtrack. The conclusion should be clear even before listening to the twelve tracks: well-made action fare that, in this case, indulges in fatalism in pieces such as A Storm Is Coming or Battlefield 1 [Variation] . On the other hand, with Tortured Metal and Battlefield Apocalyptic , the familiar Battlefield-theme reappears. The worthy conclusion to Battlefield 1 is served up in the last track, Lacrimosa (Battlefield 1 Epilogue) – so many tears, so much drama, I love it!
