Budget piano music

This is the music review. Here you can find the game review.

A game that probably lives up to the description visual novel with freedom of choice: Long Live the Queen. You can read about what it is, why I played it in the first place and why I've grown fond of it in the accompanying game review . Here I would like to talk briefly about its music. Briefly, because there's not much to say and not much to listen to.

So it's all the more surprising that the score was one of the biggest motivators when playing the game - alongside the desire to get one over on my buddy. The score consists of 27 tracks, but most of them would pass for short piano intermezzi and cues. Some of them are really great and memorable - probably because you listen to them all the time. The music comes from StudioKannazuki, a (Japanese?) composer who offers smaller commissioned works on his homepage. So if you're looking for a main theme for your next game, you can buy it here for 900 dollars.

It may sound stupid that I'm now starting to praise such supposedly soulless mass-produced goods, but I really like pieces like the soulful "Introduction [Garnet]" or its more powerful variation "Reprise [Garnet]"! "Peril", on the other hand, is a storm on the piano and sometimes brings back memories of the great "Cohen's Masterpiece" from BioShock. And the main theme "God Save the Queen", which is the original "God Save the King" anthem, also fits too well and brought a smile to my face when I first started the game. Of course, the gamerip is not a classic soundtrack, but in my opinion it is remarkably harmonious for a small manga adventure. A genuine and entertaining recommendation for piano fans.

Nostalgia warning

The rating of the individual tracks is purely subjective and clearly colored by my own experience with the game. You can find out more in the article About Nostalgia.
